S&W M48 new to me

I went to the Reno Gun Show Friday, haven’t been in a couple years.
I was looking for a S&W M25-2. No reasonably priced finds.

So I see this M48 in a display. It looks pretty good so I check it out. It’s a no dash. Only test fired and no turn line.
The barrel does have a few minor cosmetic spots but nothing to discourage me.
We negotiate and arrive at $725. I considered that a fair price for the condition.

No box/papers/tools.

Here’s my first and only M48

That is super! How tough is it to locate 22 mag ammo? My local Gun Shop has
a model 53 in .22 Jet, near mint with box and, all the accessories. Tempts me but, the $1200. price tag keeps me at bay.

22 mag ammo for me has been non-existent for the last two years at retail stores. If they have any, it sells very quickly.

Nice find on the M48. I'm pretty impressed with that one.

Ozzieman,

Sweet!
I'd pay that much for that gun in it's condition.
Let us know how it shoots.
You are going to shoot it?

Yes it's going to get shot. Hopefully this next weekend.
I bought 2 boxes of ammo at the show, thinking my LGS would have some.
No luck, but on a lark, I stopped at Big 5 and scored three boxes.
I guess I'll have to stock up at the next gun show.

4D5- Just keep the gun clean, .22WMR ammo had gotten dirtier that it used to be. If you ever get issues with fail to fire, tighted the strain screw and if that doesnt do it, get a Wolff mainspring. A 48 is the first gun I ever bought new, still have it, may get buried with it.

Well I finally got to take it out for a test drive.
Felt I did pretty good for the first outing.
The three to the left were shooter error
Might have done better, but I was conservative with the scarce ammo.
