S&W M&P 360

Should the cylinder in a S&W M&P 360 be loose enough that you can move it by hand? I just picked up a used one and I can move the cylinder left and right even when cocked. I'm wondering if a trip home to S&W is in order. The revolver looks flawless but I'm concerned if firing it with such a loose cylinder is a good idea.

How much play are we talking about? All the Airweights and Airlites I've owned had a small amount of play, even in full lock up. It's nothing that has ever affected reliability or accuracy. If you begin getting sprayed or shooting poor groups you should send it back. Otherwise, I wouldn't worry about it.

First read the revolver checkout sticky above. Will tell you what you need to look at and for. Firing a loose cylinder is not a good thing, but is it loose or moves just a bit. Small amount of movement not unusual. Make sure it is empty pull the trigger and while holding the trigger all the way back take your off hand and see if the wiggle is still there or mostly gone that is normal.

It has the same amount of wiggle whether the trigger is held back or not. When moved with my off hand it makes an audible 'chunk, chunk, chunk' as you move it from side to side. I would expect a little movement but it seems excessive to me. Guess I'll put some .38's through it and see how it goes.

Thanks for the responses.
