S&W loses a sale.

FYI, the new chief of the Caddo Parish Louisiana Sheriff's department has just announced that they will be switching from S&W 4006 DAO autos to Glock 22/23 pistols. So much for S&W preference in LEO bids. This sounds good to me and I don't even care for Glocks.

That may not be that big of a loss - maybe 20 guns a year?
But if you look at it as Another County switching... because there has been a lot latly going from Smiths to another model.

Let me ask the Forum this:
Does anyone know a department that went from Glock or Sigs to Smiths?

Small nit to pick here...Correct nomenclature for third generation S&W pistols:

A 4006 is notDAO. A full size DAO .40 in stainless would be a 4046.
First two digits denote the family, third digit is safety/decocker/size variation, and 4th digit is frame material.

Glad to see that S&W is not getting the preferrential treatment they had 'bargained' for. This is in spite of the fact that I personnally like S&W pistols.

Remember, just because you are not paranoid doesn't mean they are not out to get you!

The department may have as many as several hundred members. I am not certain of the exact number, but it is a metro area.

My FFL has been having a hell of a time selling any S&W hardware.
He feels it's the "Paybacks can be a bitch" syndrome. I agree.

For what it's worth, I also like their pistols and wheelguns. Have several, and plan on keeping them.

Since they were all pre-KGB (that'd be Klinton Gun Ban) era.

The local PD and associated agencies have nearly all went to either S&W, or Glockenspeil. Some of the guys opt for a Sig. All in thei rpersonal tastes there, i S'POSE.

None , however the Dedham Mass. police buy only S&W. Maybe we sould sent them thousands of letters asking them to buy "AMERICAN" or not BRITISH.
