'Fraid not
JGIG, most of the revolvers made post-1983 fall into the three alpha/four numeric numbering system. The SCS&W shows this system began in 1980 with the L-frames. There are/were certain special models with peculiar serial numbers, of course.
Actually, the autoloaders started a similar system in March 84, in the TAA___ series.
A careful description of the particular .38 will probably enable someone on this forum to give you a model number. OTOH, if it bears the s/n you gave, it should have the model number stamped on the frame just below where the barrel screws in, and visible when the cylinder is swung out. Should be a two-digit number, a dash (-) and another single digit, maybe something like 15-6 or 67-1. I believe all the three digit models in cal. .38 came later.
Let us know, huh?
