I may have posted my question in the wrong place, I'm new here...
How can I find out who owned my J frame 38 before I purchased it from a gun shop? Is there a way to trace ownership on line?

That info would be in the book of your selling FFL (or the FFL that took it in). I am told (by mine) that they aren't supposed to show it to you. There are no online sources that I've ever run across for this type of info.

More than likely....no.

If the gun shop took the gun in on consignment, they may have the previous owners information, but they do not have to give it to you.

As far as I know, there is no way to trace gun ownership on-line.
