I like this: http://www.apbnews.com/newscenter/breakingnews/1999/10/22/wesson1022pm_01.html

If you read it carefully - you will see S&W is making some political brownie points by posturing.
What they are advocating here isn't a change in anything - Back ground checks and all that are already required by law...

At least this will shut up the bleeting sheep for awhile.

Kinda like trigger locks - You have to buy the trigger lock or they give you one with the gun... Okay - at least you still get to buy the gun and there is no way to require you to actually put the damn thing on the gun once you get home!

Its like a political ghillie suit...

Joe, he just phrased it wrong. Of COURSE they will shortly require you to put the trigger lock on once you get home. But they can't MAKE you.

Back to S&W-- I think their corporate lawyers decided that this posturing might help in future junk litigation. Al
