S&W has already removed some pistols from their shelves

FYI

I went to the S&W range in W. Springfield, MA to shoot tonight and overheard a coversation between the range officer and a customer. The range officer was confirming that some pistols had been removed from the shelf and were no longer for sale. They were .22, too. I thought I heard the term "S&W 99" along with a list of others. The reason for their removal was because they don't have the "chamber loaded" indicator feature on them. As far as I know, these are 1 shot .22s were talking about here. Wow, I know I feel safer that those horrible weapons are gone. Thank God those .44 magnums are still available!

I was too embarassed to ask the range officer about the situation. I really like those guys and I'm sure they aren't too happy with what's happening to their company.

Most gun shops in the state of Ma. have stopped selling semi-autos because of the new handguns laws announced on monday. The loaded chamber indicator is only one of the new requirements that the state has mandated. The state is using consumer protection laws to regulate handguns, They say that handguns must meet there criteria or they are not safe consumer products.

Can't be the case on the 99. That gun was designed specifically for these new regs, as it has the loaded chmber indicator and the magazine disconnect. Talking to one of my local dealers here in MA, he thnks the only guns they will be able to sell are S&W.

Does the forward moving trigger on the Glock count as a loaded chamber indicator??

Smith and wesson SIGMAs have no loaded chamber indicator, and the trigger does not move forward when the gun is in battery like the trigger on a Glock.

Are Dealers still selling Glocks?

I have to disagree. The regulations announced on Monday were not new. They just made a new media hype out of stupid law passed in 1998. The mass AG is a real A...ol, but his "rulling" is being chalenged in court.
Oh, by the way, nobody stopped selling anything! I just bought a hi cap handgun today!!! :)

I live in western mass and the shop I usally deal with had stopped selling semi autos. I also talking with people at work was made aware of two other shops that had put the brakes on sales of semi autos until the AG made clear what they can sell and if the guns they already had for sale were exempt. Camfour(spelling?) a major distributor of firearms located in Westfield ma. has stopped selling handguns to ma. shops and I just read a statement from Tarus that they have suspended all handgun shipments to this state. I hope things turn around in court because this state is getting ridiculous.

Hi Battler, what kind of Glock do you have?

The extractor on my G26 is all black and only changes its position slightly when a round is chambered.

The trigger visually moves forward when the gun is brought into battery.

I just wondered if glocks were now illegal to sell in Mass.

Wow I know there was a ruling in 1842 that said a state could regulate the manner of wearing of a firearm but it seems unconstitutional to interfere in its design, or to interfere in interstate commerce.

I think the Mass governor should lead the way and have his personal protection detail get rid of all of their unsafe firearms.

I will email him and suggest they send all their glocks and sigs to me for disposal.

I know it is against the constitiution for a state(besides texas) to leave the union but can we vote to kick one out. Give Mass. and Md. back to England! that would serve em right! -ddt

The answere is simple do not buy anything that Smith $ Wesson currently produces. If you must have a Smith $ Wesson buy a used one. Their revolvers are great, excuse me I meant to say were great and their used ones still are. But their semi-autos are junk and I don't know of a LEO that carrys one. They are no longer on the list of approved weapons at my Police Department, to many problems with them.
