S&W front sight help please!

I just got a 686 - the older square butt version as the newer ones have the moronic round butts and the hideous Hogue grips...prefer round on 3-inch barrel Smiths! Anyways the new 686 has a pinned black front sight with red insert, the older like mine only the insert the sight is part of the barrel - S&W tells me they can mill it off and put the new style pinned one on should I do that or just find some method to blacken it to end up with the newer look? Just a cosmetic thing really...I do like the red insert in the black sight - thanks!

Any smith should be able to do a black epoxy insert for you at modest cost. You may be able to do it yourself as cheaply via the kit available through Brownells. In an case, this beats the cost(rape?) of the UPS tariff to ship it to *&*.
