S&W Dates of Manufacture

Can anyone point me to a web site that has dates of manufacture for S & W? I picked up a couple of old Smith revolvers today, and I would like to find out what year they were made.

Give me the first several digits of the serial number, along with any letter prefixes, and I'll look them up in my references for you.

BloodyThumb is a old nick name I got a few years ago from some old pals I worked rescue with. It's a LOOOOONG painful story, but I kinda miss those guys, so it's not as painful as it used to be!

If you want to send a description (including all markings and numbers) and a check for $20 to the Smith&Wesson Historian he will give you all the information about the pistol from Smith&Wesson's factory records. This often includes information on the original owner and the configuration of the pistol when it left the factory.

These days, I'm not so sure I want to send any money to the current Smith folks for anything under any circumstances.
