S&W conversion grips....

I've recently picked up a good 686-5, 6 inch barrel, newer thumblatch, but NO lock .
Has the round butt frame with the Hogue rubber grips which, for my hand, are a little too narrow from side to side.

Anyone got any suggestions for a round to square conversion replacement grip that's a bit thicker?

If you're gonna stay with rubber, Pachmayr's Presentations are made for a SB but work fine on RB's. They're meatier than Hogues and free of annoying (to me) finger grooves. Soak up recoil like nobody's business, too.

Hogue wood grips are a little wider than their rubber versions. They also come in the conversion style.

You could try a pair of X frame grips on it. They are L frame size, but the rubber covers the backstrap, and looks like a square butt.

Thanks for the help; a shop in town has a good selection of Pacs; I'll see what they have that'll fit my hand.

Try a Davis grip too--only one finger groove-and long with a flat base,good for the prone.I use them on several Smiths.
