Can someone tell me what years S&W used the cardboard silver box, the blue with metal corners, and blue flip top ?

I believe the blue boxes with riveted corners came along about 1955 (this is the copyright date on most of these boxes) and were used through the 1970s. Major changes were made to the guns around 1981-82 and I think that's when the newer style boxes were introduced, as well.

I think that the two piece, silver boxes with dark blue
writing were only used to ship nickel plated handguns
in; but from what period of origin, I'm not quite sure?

Oops- Was thinking of the older gold boxes. They pre-date the blue ones. The silver boxes with riveted corners were for nickeled guns as noted above.
