Any experiences or comments on the S&W 547
( a 9mm revolver which uses a unique non-moon clip system )? Thanks in advance!

I had one in the round butt/3" barrel variety for a time. Interesting extractor system and accurate, but plagued by the same affliction as most all revolvers in 9mm; Fixed Sights!

I really would like to see Ruger's SP-101 with 3" barrel be offered with a decent adjustable sight. That's the only thing that's kept me from buying one this long...

Make mine lean, mean, and 9x19!

I have a 547, and it's an interesting gun. The patented extraction system works, but is a little tricky. For instance, after ejection, the extractor rod may not return fully forward unless manually tugged the last eighth of an inch or so. If the fresh cartridges are loaded without the extractor rod in the full forward position, the cartridge rims tend to underride the extractor prongs. IIRC, when this happens, the cylinder needs to be emptied and the process started over. I guess the bottom line is that the operation of the 547 takes a little getting used to.

The gun is fun to shoot with 9mm cartridges. Recoil is a lot like .38 Special +P.

My 547 is 4-inch. Years ago I missed a chance to get a 3-inch, and have kicked myself more than once for not acting quickly enough.

HTH. :)

I have a S&W 547, 4" but I've not noticed the problems Jimmy experienced.

I have noticed that the chambers/charging holes in the cylinder are tight and must be kept clean. Otherwise they won't eject easily, and I'm thinking about shooting mine in IDPA.

Nice little gun.
