S&W 945 Compact

Does anyone have any experience with either the S&W 945 compact in all stainless or alloy frame configuration? I think the alloy frame version is called the lightweight tactical model. I understand the Performance Center is a pretty serious outfit and does some really nice things. Any comments?

I've got the Performance Center 945 in both the full sized and Commander size models (5 vs. 4" barrel). Both have been 100% reliable, and both are very accurate. I use the 4" for IDPA sometimes. I saw the even smaller "Officer's" sized 945 at a gun show todat but I believe I perfer the two I have with their 8 shot magazines. The 4 inch comes with Novak Sights and the 5 inch with Bo-Mar adjustable sights. Regards, Dennis

Hey Dennis,

The one I wanted to order has an alloy frame and 3.75 inch slide. It's called the tactical. They told me it carries an 8 round magazine. Heard of that one?

Correction, I meant to say 3.75 inch barrel. Oops.

My smaller 945 is called the 945 Combat Pistol. The specs say it's barrel is 4". I don't know the barrel length on the even smaller version I saw at the gun show yesterday, but did see that their listed price for it was $1450 (about $200 more than the 4" and $100 more than the 5" have been selling for in this area). Regards, Dennis
