For anyone else, I would probably say don't, but you should have no problem. To remove the firing pin, depress the firing pin block and use a punch to push the firing pin all the way forward, then put the safety in mid position and use a screwdriver to push it out (dual safeties require removal of the right side thumbpiece first). Then the firing pin should come out to the rear.
The key to further disassembly of the slide of all those S&W's (except the Sigma series) is removal of the rear sight. Sort of like that of the Walther P.38, it holds in the firing pin block and spring, and the spring and plunger for the magazine safety. The early 39 model required lifting the front of the sight and swinging it to the side; other models have a sight set screw that has to be removed. In some sights, the top of the sight has to be removed by pushing in on the plungers in the sides of the sight guard. Once the allen screw is exposed, it can be removed and the sight base removed.
