S&W 686+ / Trigger job

I had my excellent local gunsmith do a trigger job on my S&W 686+ and I took it to the range yesterday. The trigger is smooth as silk and my groups shooting double action were about comparable to what I can do with a good semi-auto pistol. Have to love that.

I never thought I would have another revolver with a trigger as sweet as is the case with my GP100 (which also has had an excellent trigger job). But now these two guns are crying out for a shootout. Maybe this Saturday, schedule permitting.

Anyway, my Smith sure did a great job with the 686+. Here she is:

The factory trigger on my 686+ was not bad right out of the box. No real complaints.

But guys, after the trigger job, the gun is freaking amazing. Shooting DA my groups look like groups from a good 1911. No fooling; it really made a difference.

I did my own trigger job on my Model 686 Plus. I ordered a set of Wolff Power Rib shooters pack spring set. I stoned the rebound slide, installed the spring set and that's it. Smooth and lighter double action from factory. It was easy to do and I learned a lot about my revolver.

686 trigger job

I have 686 & 586 I myself would leave it factory. I don't think you'll gain anything by dropping a whole bunch of money into trigger jobs
