S&W 686 Grip

I recommend the Pachmayr Presentation grips. The finger groove grips from Pachmayr or Hogue are OK, but don't fit my fairly large hand as well as the Presentations.

Since the 686 is an L frame, any grip for a K frame will also fit. I have medium size hands, and the Pachmayr grooved grips work well. You could always use friction tape to build up the size, if you don't care how it looks.

God and soldiers, we adore
In times of danger, not before
With the danger safely righted
God is forgotten, and soldiers slighted

You might want to consider over sized woood target grips. (The old Smith & Wesson factory Goncalo Alves specifically.) I use a rat tail rasp on these and finger groove them to fit my hand. Sand them smooth and apply polyurathane after. They look good and fit better than any store bought grips you can get.

I was promised a Shortycicle and I want a Shortycicle!

With my large hands, the only solution I've found is the Bill Jordan plastic grips sold by Pachmayr. They're hard to find but not expensive and are the best feeling grips for a really large hand. Check them out before you put a lot of money in wood or rubber that you can't get back. The presentation grips are good but still not as comfortable for me as the Bill Jordans. I shoot a 686 pretty often and compete in pins just to give you an idea of experience factor. Good luck.
