Egyptian Firearms Laws
In Egypt it is only allowed to have pistols, revolvers, shotguns and single action rifles. The laws haven't changed since ages and a person must prove the reason for applying for a fire arm license. Main proofs are like owning a big farms, a merchant who carries cash, having big size property, being a reputable businessman, shooting sportsmen, etc. Criminal records MUST be checked thoroughly. Since a person obtains a purchase order for any of the above mentioned types, he can buy from an authorized dealer or from any one who has a license. After the purchase he goes to his neighborhood police station to register the weapon and record its particulars, then issue him a temporary permit for carrying a weapon till they issue him the digital license. The maximum number of weapons on a license should not exceed 3 pieces, one for defense, one for shooting and one for hunting. Only registered members in the Egyptian Shooting Union as FIRST category shooters can have a fourth piece on the license, either extra one for hunting or shooting. Automatic weapons are prohibited, but some people specially in Upper Egypt have them illegally. The penalty of carrying non licensed weapon could be imprisonment for a period up to 25 years, specially if it is a stolen military or police weapon. Only Egyptians can apply for weapons licenses and diplomats are exempted from that. Prices here are crazy for licensed weapons and ammo, my S&W 66-1 costed me more than $ 6,000
A 38 special bullet cost about $ 10 each
and up to $ 17 for the .357 magnum. A new Sig X5 cost around $ 30,000. All the prices are in US Dollars
You can't get except 50 rounds for each piece every 3 months, unless if you are a member of the shooting union. I have lived in the USA before and I know that prices are much much much lower
Cheers guys and many thanks for your help
