S&W 65 Lady Smith

I found a S&W 65 Lady Smith 3 inch at one of my dealers for $460 out the door. It is unfired in the box. I have wanted a 3 inch S&W for a long time. What do you guys think of this model? Tis a beautiful gun.

P.S. The search function wouldn't work since "65" is under three characters.

The Model 65LS is at the top of my "must-have" list at the moment. The 65LS is the stainless version of the best carry revolver ever made, the Model 13. $460 seems little high, unless it's NIB, but I doubt you'll ever regret getting a 65LS.

I absolutely love my 65LS. The 3" barrel gives a long enough sight radius for most people to fire accurately. A 3" K-frame is hefty enough to take most .357 loads comfortably and light and short enough to make a reasonable carry gun (this will certainly be my carry revolver when I move to a carry state). I wouldn't hesitate to get another if I found a nice one at the same time I had the cash. This is one of two of my guns that I'll always keep no matter what happens (the other being my CZ 75B).

As far as your price, I don't know your area but if it is in great condition it may be priced ok. My area is a bit overpriced but I got mine brand new a year ago at one of the lower priced dealers for $469 (this dealer now has them for $489). Most other local dealers that have them ask from $520-550 for it NIB. Around here I'd expect that a used, but unfired, 65LS would probably be about $460.

When the former CEO of S&W pulled his little stunt with the previous administration, an S&W Ladysmith 65LS is one of several Smith handguns that I traded away in frustration, anger and disgust. My 65LS was a beautiful revolver, well put together, very tight, easy to shoot and accurate. I like the LS a bit better than the regular 65 because of the matte stainless finish and the enclosed ejector rod. Neat, neat revolver and I'm sure you won't be disappointed. (That experience was an example of letting my emotions rule my head, LOL, as it is a revolver I would like to still have. Oh well...).

$460 is the price out the door, it is $420 before tax and reg fee. That price is about right for California. Do the lady smiths have a lighter spring in them? The trigger is lighter and smoother than most S&W revolvers I have tried lately. I think I am going to get it, I just need to figure out how to finance it.

They are a tad smoother and lighter. They ARE marketed towards women.

You might find the grips too small if you have large hands.
Get some Spegel boot grips. They are perfect for these guns.

Makes for a pretty nice MEN's carry piece.

You can buff off the LadySmith logo quite easily with a lead-free cloth if you desire. It's pretty easy to do, and it turns the bead blast finish into a real sweet looking satin.

So now youre calling me a girl!;)

The logo doesn't bother me, I think I'll just leave it alone. Besides, I can tell my wife I bought it for her.;)

"Look honey, it even says lady smith on the side."

Joelno,
That is a beauty.

Who is the maker of those grips?

Good gun. I would change the factory grips, though, if they are the overly large wooden model with the fingergrooves.

BTW, when doing a serach for items under three letters, use an asterisk *. This acts as a 'wild card' in the search function. So if you type in Model 65* you should be okay.
