S&W 645 vs. Colt 1911A1 WWII production

OK, here is the deal: A good friend of mine offers me to trade my SW 645, which I actually like alot for his Colt 1911A1 made in 1942. The gun has BRITISH PROOF MARKS (BMP)on it, but it is blued, as oppose to being parkerized (I suspect it was refinished at some poit). The condition is very nice, with some holster wear, but nothing else. The gun is accurate and reliable.
Input is much appreciated.

I don't have sufficienf references on hand to verify, but I think the blued-vs-Parkerized issue doesn't prove the piece has been refinished. Do you have the serial number? I haved a list of commercial and military guns for that era.

Many commercial Colt .45 autos were sent to Britian early in the war--before U. S. entered the conflict--because of severe domestic shortages there. Also some privately owned guns, long and short--were donated by NRA members to help defend GB from invasion.

Best,
Johnny
