S&W 642 vs. Taurus 85UL or 850 M85

Greetings. Looking for a good pocket-snub, my esteemed SP101 being a bit of a brick.

Any comparison between the .38+p J-frame snubs of S&W vice their Taurus counterparts? I have fired a few different revos of each maker, but none of the abovementioned models in particular.

Thanks much. -MV

I have a Titanium 850 CIA. I like it a lot. It weighs 16 ounces, about what a S&W 642/442 weighs. The porting on it does help reduce muzzle flip. This was my first non-S&W revolver. It did require a trip back to Taurus though as the forcing cone was touching the barrel which caused it to scrape against the cylinder face and locked up the trigger numerous times. Trigger is very nice on it too.

I would recommend keeping your Ruger SP101 and sending it off for an action job and porting from Magnaport or Jack Weigand at Weigand Combat if he is taking on work again.
