S&W 642 Problem

I have a S&W 642, I was using PMC 132gr 38 spcl. When I put the bullets in the go in fine, the gun fires just fine, when I take the brass cassings out, 1 always gets stuck in the cylinder. I have to pull the brass case out with pliers. I suspect its getting stuck in the spot in the cylinder each time, I'll have to shoot it again this see if its the same position in the cylinder each time but, I'm pretty sure it is. Any suggestions ast to what is causing this?

I ask these questions three ...

Is this a new problem or has it always done this?

Does it only do it with this one particular brand or load of ammo?

Is it indeed always the same chamber?

BryanP's questions are good. Also carefully check the cylinder and extractor star for burrs, fouling and tooling marks. Be certain to look under the extractor as well. Those are the obvious things that come to mind for me.

1st clean the snot out of it. Then mark the edge of every other charge hole with a different color nail polish. Shoot it and see if the same charge hole is the problem. If so, Then call S&W 1800-331-0852 and explain the problem, they should fix it probably for free because 642s are not that old. If it changes charge holes then prossibly the ammo....?

Good advice from replies I read. Do you have access to calipers? Shoot an entire cylinder and then mic or use calipers to see if case is substantially different dimensions between cylinders.

Sometimes using Blaser ammo will cause problems because of case material.

I don't have alot of experience with PMC pistol ammo, so don't know there alloy or case hardness.

Rough chamber(s) can cause extraction problems too.

The 642 has a pretty short ejector rod.

Make sure you point the barrel up and punch the rod sharply.

Might help...

I have not had the chance to take it out to shoot since my last post but I will say the ejector rod is not in question. But I did clean the hell out of it this weekend.
When I load NEW and unfired bullets into to it they slide in or out just fine the ejector rod pushes them out, or I can just open the cylander and hold it upside down they'll just fall out. IT's when I fire all five rounds then try to eject the rounds all the brass cassings will come out but the one, I will assume is the same charging hole each time. It seems like the brass case has expanded and is too fat for the hole. I have only fired 30 rounds out the pistol since I've had it, and this problem happened 3 times.
