S&W 642 Pro-Series questions

Hi everybody, I have a couple questions about the S&W 642 Pro-Series (NOT the ported model).
Does it have the internal lock?
Can it fire without moon clips?

I don't know for sure about the 642 Pro Series, but I carry a 442 Pro Series which is also cut for moonclips. The 442 does not have the internal lock and it works just fine with or without the moonclips. When the cylinder is machined for the clips, a ridge is left around the outside which allows the rims of the cartridges to have something to bear against for headspacing. If you don't use moonclips, the gun works just like any other normal revolver.

Thanks for your answer. Internet 642 and 442 Pro-Series pics research seems to show no-lock revolvers.

I do know that the 642 is indeed available without the internal lock, but I don't know if that necessarily applies to the Pro Series which is cut for moonclips. If the lock is a deal-breaker for you (it isn't to me but to each his own), you do at least know for sure that the 442 is available with both moon clips and no ILS.

No lock on the Pro series, and the gun will function fine without moon clips.
