S&W 642-2 ?

I went to pick out a new revolver today. I decided on a new S&W 642. I noticed it is stamped 642-2. What does the -2 stand for? I vaguely remember seeing a post that contained a 642-3. Am I remembering correctly? Just wondering what the latest incarnation of the 642 is? Was very pleased with the price of $338. Thanks for any help.

Doug,

The dash 2 represents the second engineeing change for the model.

Dash 1 the 642 became +P capable
Dash 2 the internal lock was added
I'm not familiar with the Dash 3

Nice gun, enjoy...

Sure like your choice!! Mine has been my always gun for 8 years. Can't find anything wrong with it: compact, powerful, and the bad guy can see the ammo.
