S&W 638, Part Two, fast & close shooting

Last week I shot my brand new S&W model 638 at 25, 50 & 100 yards. Today I went in to shoot at close range. I always shoot my new guns at far ranges first; if you can shoot far you can always shoot close … not the other around at times.

The little CCW gun held its own today. The weather was cold, wet, gray, and I felt like C—p on St. Patrick’s Day … the perfect storm for great training!!!

The combination of small size, light weight, and great shooting makes for a wonderful pocket pistol of Revolver design ... a winner!

I shot a little video and stills of course for fans of the 638 or like S&W compact J-frames.

Thanks. That's a good video. Seems to be just what these fighting guns are made for. You did better than me and now I have something to emulate.

I always liked the 3" barrel for that kind of shooting; I felt it gave better pointing when there wasn't time to aim, and better sight radius when there was. But never underestimate those small revolvers; a good shooter who knows the gun can be deadly at 100 yards.

I am sure it does. One had to draw the line for most important feature. Pocket size or hip carry. Since I carry a .45 ACP Revolver most of the time, I choose the pocket version ... this time!
