Does anyone out there have a "Trail Boss" .44 Mag? if so... how do you like it? I am thinking of buying one out of a friends collection.
Thanks

Trailboss

I purchased one of these and had it for about a week before selling it for a 4 inch model 29 and then finally bought a 4 inch Mountain gun. The question I would ask is what do you want to do with it? If you are just looking for a packing/ hiking gun, I would go with a Mountain gun, same weight, extra inch of barrel. I definately like how the gun looks.. the Mountain gun just did the job better that I needed it for.

Good luck!

I've got an original Lew Horton 629 Combat Master ( mid- 80's production, 3" MagnaPorted barrel) that is quite a blast to shoot (literally and figuratively). I prefer the 3" N-frames to the four inch.

Asmodeous,

Beautiful gun.. I have always enjoyed how this gun looks, I just didn't get the performance I wanted.. What kind of velocities/ accuracy are you seeing in yours? Maybe I had a dud.. not uncommon for S&W...

44mag

My hunting buddy carrys one whenever we going camping

It's a real handful to shoot accurately. Although, a guy he knows at the range was capable of some fine shooting with it at twenty five yards. That told me it was me and not the gun responsible for the huge groups I was getting. It's defeinately not for me, but I see no reason why anybody accustomed to the .44 mag shouldn't like it.

It's 10 ring accurate on the B-27 target at 25 yards. I've never chronographed it, so I don't know that the velocities are like. The flash through the porting looks like big wings of fire coming from the muzzle ;)

I have one, I like it quite a bit. Mine is a newer one that is unported and would highly suggest that the ports make it way too loud. Mine shoots as well as I do, Im sure someone else would shoot it better or worse. Hope it helps.
