Greetings,
I have a new S&W 629, 3", .44 Mag., "Backpacker" that needs some customizing. My intent is to create a tough/reliable/accurate firearm as I can. This gun will see hard use in both the number of rounds fired and the environmental conditions it will experience. I am open to suggestions both as to modifications and to pistolsmiths to do the work. My only initial plans are to have Ashley Express Pro Tritium Big Dot night sights (custom installed), keep the double action/hammer spur, quadra port, and to have the gun completely done in Robar NP3.
What do you folks suggest?

I dunno...

Quadra-porting a 3" .44 Mag might make the barrel look a little "overcrowded". Have you considered a standard pair of Mag-Na-Ports?

What kind of grips are you going to use?

Greetings again,
You may be right about the "crowding." I have a new set of Badger Round Butt grips on it, and they feel great.

CONTACT JACK WEIGAND

NP3 is perfect, ports? not something I personally prefer, Ashley front dot makes sense (although I prefer notch or ghost-ring rear, and medium-sized dot), and I would DEFINITELY explore Pachmayr Decelerators.

Suggest maximum bullet weight 280g.
