Saw a 629-6, 3" barrel with non-fluted cylinder today. What's the story on these? It doesn't appear on the PC page and it's not on the product list as far as I can tell. But not knowing any better and in keeping with the Christmas spirit (ie., there's a new set of gun laws fast approaching with the new year) and the fact that I needed a gun for my one a month requirement, I bought it. More than I've ever paid for a revolver, but it looked like it could be fun and work at the same time.

I just got the same thing, 629-6, 3", unfluted (called the Trail Boss). I used to have a Lew Horton gun like this. I wish it had been a full underlug gun but it is still cool. I'm not sure how I feel about the integral lock but I guess it will never be used. I shot mine yesterday. I ran three wheels of 210gr silvertips. Be sure to get the coupon for the S&W range bag. Any S&W bought new between Oct. 15 and Jan 15 larger than 22 cal. gets you a free range bag. Send in your proof of purchase receipt with the coupon (can be gotten off their web site) and viola.

Thanks, I can always use a new range bag. Just out of curiosity, since S&W is supposedly using MIM parts in their new revos, which parts in the Trail Boss are supposedly MIM? They look like good stuff to me.
