S&W 629-2 ?

What can you tell me about a s&w 629-2. The goods & bads. It has a pinned hammer I think. Thanks

Nothing wrong with a 629 -2 / they were made in 1988 ..and into early 1989.

Stainless steel, sq butt, N frame...its a stainless version of the older model 29.../ and I have a couple of them ...a 629 - 4 DX model in 8 3/8" and a 629-5 model in 3" a ported RSR gun - the Trail Boss. Both of mine are very strong guns.../ not the classic look of the older model 29's ...and I have a few of those too ...mostly dash 2's in a 4", 6" blued and a 8 3/8" in Nickel...all of which I like very much as well.

The model 629 - 5 is when they went to a MIM hammer and MIM trigger so they're less desireable...but then as a shooter / gun to carry hiking the 629-5 I have in 3" is fun.

The no-dash and early dash guns are not as strong as the later ones, something you might want to keep in mind if you intend to shoot a lot of hot rounds. My 629-4 Classic DX is a dream to shoot, my favorite centerfire revolver.

I have a 629-2 I bought new.
Its been completely reliable,accurate, and after all these years with some pretty stout handloads the revolver is still as tight as the day I purchased it.
