I just wanted to share my pleasure in a wonderful new revolver purchased earlier today.
For some time, I have wanted to buy a revolver to complement the many semiautomatics I own and enjoy. I really wanted to try a "wheel gun" and I appreciated the likely dependability and accuracy a first-class revolver would offer. Moreover, just like my pistols, I wanted a very high quality, very reliable and durable, and very accurate sidearm.
Many TFL members have most kindly provided excellent advice and experiences, as I deliberated among the Ruger GP-100 series, the Smith 686 series, and the Smith 625. After lots of thought, I decided my ideal acquisition would be a stainless, five inch, S&W "N" frame in .357 magnum/.38 Special. Although not listed in their catalog, the Smith 627 met these exact specifications.
I bought this Smith around noon toady and fired 500 rounds (all .38 Special FMJ) at the range this afternoon. As you would expect, there were no jams, misfires or any other type of mechanical problem. More important, the feel, comfort and ergonomics of this revolver are terrific. In addition, the accuracy is as good, or perhaps slightly better, than my best full-size 1911A1 Kimber and my Sig P-220 and P-226. In sum, I am certain this will prove to be a wonderful gun that will provide more than one lifetime of precision and pleasure.
Kudos to S&W for their continued revolver quality and craftsmanship.
