S&W 625 JM / S&W 625 comparison and differences

Compared to standard 625s S&W no longer carries, the JM version has an interchangeable front sight, JM grips, full underlug, and a serrated trigger. The serrated trigger is forged, while the hammer is MIM, and flash-chrome treated to match the trigger.

S&W currently offers a 625 from their Performance Center. This 625PC also has an interchangeable front sight, but has a partial underlug, shorter cylinder, and psychedelic JM grips. And AFAIK, PC revolvers are also supposed to use forged (rather than MIM) innards.

S&W produced the 625,"Model of 1988" stamped on the right side of the barrel with a 5" bbl,in .45ACP for competitve shooting. The then went to the "Model of 1989",again stamped on the right side of the bbl,in 3",4", 5" bbls.I hope I am right on this. They also produced a "Mountain Gun " in .45 Colt on the 625 frame:625MG.(?)I think this is the 625-6. A friend has a 625-3,4" bbl, offering it to me for $625.I wounder what the " -3" is. Maybe 4" bbl?If I can beat him down to the $500's I will probably buy it.
