S&W 625-3 .45 Colt...Durability?

I have a S&W 625-3 in .45 Colt with a 4" barrel. It was manufactured in 1989. The timing is just right and the lock-up is solid. I have heard to NOT shoot hot loads in these guns, which I won't.

QUESTION: Can this gun handle a steady diet of 270 grain cast bullets at 900 FPS?

Thanks

YES.
Until it wears out.
It will you know,
just like anything else.
When it does,
you throw it into the trash,
and go but a NEW one.

270 gr lead at 950 fps is not a hot load unless you are using a high pressure powder.
Something that calm will not bother a 625.

IMHO, it is not a great idea to feed any revolver a steady diet of "Ruger" loads, even Rugers. And if you decide to use the hottest "Ruger" load as a low-end starting point, as many seem to do, your gun won't last long.

The 625 S&W will be fine with any reasonable .45 Colt load and unless you shoot a whole lot of ammo, will last longer than you will.

I guess my question is why?
Are you hunting?
I would never put that kind of load through mine. My Blackhawk, no problem. My 25 was built in the 70’s and is one of the best looking N frames every built and has bluing that is unbelievable. I do shoot it a lot, but it gets nothing heavier than 250 lead at about 800. My favorite is a Penn 200 gr at around 900.
Why punish a gun that will be shootable forever with a normal mid level load.

270 grain Cast Bullet @ 900 FPS That Brutal?

Ozzieman...
Over a year's time frame, would a hundred or so 270 grain cast bullets at 900 FPS be that rough on a S&W 625?

This load would just be for an all-around-round. As, John Linebaugh would say, for "general duty".
"The Smith & Wesson Model 25-5 chambered for the .45 Colt is a fine gun and one I pack daily myself....I carry a S&W 4" in .45 Colt daily and shoot a 260 gr. Keith at 900 fps for general duty. When I saddle up and go into the hills I pack the same gun with a 310 gr. NEI Keith over 23 gr. H-110. This gives me about 1080 fps and all the punch I need for anything on our mountain." http://www.customsixguns.com/writings/heavyweight_bullets.htm

Thanks
