S&W 617 aluminum cylinders?

I have been thinking about buying a S&W 617, and have been warned that some have an aluminum cylinder. When did S&W put aluminum cylinders in the 617, and do they still make them?
 
As I recall, only the early 10 shot 617's had aluminum cylinders. Apparently, either people didn't like them, or they had problems since I don't think S&W make them any more.
 
The one I saw in a shop a few days ago seemed to be all steel...Im' getting closer & closer to getting one.
