S&W 617-1...what's the "-1"

Considering buying a USED pre-agreement 617-1.
What is the "-1"? I've read on TFL that the 'dash numbers' are engineering changes, can you tell me about this particular model?

Is the "-1" actually a pre-agreement S&W? Or is the S/N needed to determine this?

Treadhead, the Smith & Wesson Model 617-1 variant began production in 1994. The changes included a different rear sight, drilled & tapped for scope mounts, modified extractor and rubber grips. Hope this helps!
