Hey guys, quickie question here.

A friend just called me to tell me his brother is selling a S&W 586-4 chambered in .38 Spl. in a matte/satin blue finish with 4" tube.

However the caliber is confusing me, I always thought the 586 was chambered in .357 Mag. He insists that it's marked that way on the barrel. He also said he'd send some pics as soon as posible.

Does anyone here know if S&W ever made up any in this configuration for an agency or security company or such? Any info would be greatly apreciated.

In advance Thanx a bunch! :)

Seems that I recall reading about some being chambered in .38 instead of .357. Perhaps for a department or agency that could not carry magnums?

OK, a quick search turned up the fact that the 581 and 586 were made in .38 Special instead of .357. There is also mention of a .38 Special 586 made for export to Brazil. HTH

What Richard said. S&W made a .38spl 586 for an export contract.

If it's in good mechanical condition, it would make a great purchase.
