S&W 581 - Rare find... NIB... pics

I have been searching the internet for about 9 months for a really cherry 581... I could only find two fairly worn examples in all that time! One of which I bought and will have cut back to a 3" barrel, round the butt, then refinish.

But just after buying the somewhat worn example, I finally found a NIB 581 with 4" barrel. Fortunately, I was able to bag it! Here she is in all her glory... just a wonderful example of a hard to find L-frame revo. One of my very favorites. The action is so nice... it seems back when the 581/586/681/686 no dash models were made, the actions were just superb. Another thing I just love about these (as with almost all fixed sight revos) they point so naturally and quickly... just like pointing your finger, they're up and aligned! Perfect for a defense revo! Everything you need and want; nothing you don't.

Modified??

If the 581 is to be used with full power .357 ammo, it needs S&W's recall.

If gun has been modified, there will be a hand stamp 'M' below model number if I remember right.

I've been thinking of saving the funds to get one, they are common at shows around here for as little as $250 for some reason, in some what decent shape(finish wear really, rest was just peachy).

How much was that beauty if you don't mind me asking?

Hey Jonathan.... I'm between Vancouver and Camas in Lacamas Valley... we're practically neighbors! Are you talking about the shows in PDX (which I do go to) or the Washington Arms shows? (which I never go to, but should!)

Clark County Fairgrounds show. I saw 2 581's with nice bores and good actions. One was 80% or so and he wanted $250, and the other was %95 and he wanted $300. Same guy selling both.. wish I had the money at the time.

DHart, we gotta go shooting. Your guns would win the sex apeal over mine though
