Hey guys I have another gun that I need help determining the value. I looked on the auctions but I can't find a CTG short barrel nickel. I will more than likely put it up for auction soon or post in the forum to sell. Appreciate it!

Click on the link for pictures. I greatly appreciate the help!

Smith and Wesson 45 COLT CTG 25-5

I paid $365 (no box) for this one. Current prices are more in the $400 --> $450 range.

The good condition nickel usually adds around a $50 bump, but it's hard to tell the nickels condition on your gun. If the black tarnish isn't easily removed with a little Flitz, or if there is any pitting/pealing, that would reduce the price at least $100 --> $150.

Good Luck...

Joe

PS: leave the Dremel in it's case.

If P&R'ed -- thus pre-1980 S&W manufacture -- I would guess $500+ (at work and have none of my reference books at hand).

I agree with $450.00. maybe more if someone wants it bad enough. I have made 6 online auction purchases in the past several months. All have been good transactions.

My last two included a Colt Python (nickle) for under $850. When my bid was at $727.00 someone came in and bid me up to $827.00 then dropped. The other was $427.00 for an M66, STS, 2 1/2" Brl.

I guess what I'm trying to say is the pics reflected the quaility of both guns. I looked at your pics, and no offense, but I wouldn't bid on that gun. I would suggest you take the gun outside, turn off the flash, and bring out the best in your gun...You could say I bid too much on both guns, but I wanted them... ;)

Best of luck...

There seems to quite a lot of freckling and scratches in the nickel. Also right much of the finish is worn off the stocks. It might be tough trying to get $400 for it.

personally, I think the 25's in 45 colt are getting a little bit scarce and is a segment of the public that really likes 'em (including me) and I (reluctantly) tell you $450.00 strikes me as cheap...

Lots of great feedback guys, I greatly appreciate it. Lots of varied opinions on this particular piece. Some say $450 is too low, while others are saying that's the approximate rate. I agree that the pictures look like crap because of the damn glare. I'll be the first to admit I suck at photography.

Thanks for your time guys,

JB

DPris,

I don't know jack sh**, otherwise I would not be posting all these questions and needing help identifying several arms and their value. I've owned one piece o crap gun all my life, a cheesy .45 Ruger that I paid $200 for 12 years ago and I've only shot it one time at a firing range. I supposed I should pickup a book and learn more rather than asking these questions!! ;)

Anyway, appreciate the help and sorry if I include abbreviations that don't mean much! By the way, what does the word "cartridge" mean? Haha. Seriously.

Regards,
JB

Sure, send 'em on over! I live in Houston, TX, 5TH Ward, tell him to speak to "Leeroy" when he gets here, he's the guy out back with gold teeth packing a MAC 10. *laughs hystericly*

Only kidding, too! :)

Just in case you were serious the word "cartridge" is the round you load your gun with. It's an assembly of the case, primer, powder, and the bullet.
You load a cartridge, shoot a bullet, and eject an empty case.

Majic,

Any post you see of mine, take seriously. I am really that stupid when it comes to guns. Truthfully, I would like to learn about them but they are way down on the list at this point in my life.

I must say, however, that everyone on these forums has been extremely helpfuly and I do appreciate every bit.

If I could just find one person willing to do the figures and answer questions (Houston area), I am positive I could get that person a free gun or $

jb2005,

I live north of Houston. Email or PM me with any questions. I can probably answer most...or I can steer you in the right direction if I can't.

Just keep posting your questions or you can PM us ( I don't think anyone would mind spending a few minutes answering your questions) and you will get your answers. If it gets a little over your head just let us know and someone will bring it down to earth for you.
