Well I have done it. I have contracted the Smith & Wesson revolver fever. Currently own a model 65 3 inch and a new 617 4 inch. Am looking at the .44 magnum, but I want advice. I like the look of the half-lug 4 inch barrel, but I am thinking the 5 inch full-lug will shoot better with the added weight. I'm guessing less barrel flip and felt recoil with the 5 inch full lug? What about weight? Is there much difference in weight? I'm considering taking this gun in the field for hikes in the mountains, as well as deer hunting. I would appreciate any insights from people who own or have owned these two models. Many Thanks!
