I don't know if any one is interested but their is 6" SS unfluted cylinder S&W revolver in .41 Mag in the pawnshop by me. Their is no model stamp-just the S&W logo and the words ".41 Magnum" on the barrell. It has adj. sights and the type of grip that is black rubber with finger grooves. This guy is always high but always comes down a bit with cash. He is asking $429. It looks really good-Their was very little cylinder rotational play in lock up and just a we bit of cylinder fore/aft play when the cylinder is swung out. I have no idea what model it is-give me some things to look for and I'll look again and/or email me and I'll get you the phone number. BTW-I live 40 mi NE of Atlanta, GA.

Sounds like a M657 Hunter.
Like this except for cylinder and grips?

That's it

That's it-except as you point out-it has an unfluted (solid?) cylinder and rubber grips. Is the price to high?

i have what M58 has. in the "only one gun" scenario, this is it.

this is one damn fine revolver. if i were just 40 miles ne of atlanta you would no longer concern yourself about this gun, it would be gone, to my house, cause i'm looking for another

if he will not come down under 400 bucks or so, get it anyway. whats a few bucks for something that is really worth any reasonable price. if you end up not liking it, contact me, we will make a deal and figure out some way to get it to arkansas. i am serious.

my woman has been after mine since i got it. and, she already has more guns than i do. gotta luv a gal like that.

Walk in with $400 cash (+ tax), walk out with gun.
Lather, rinse, repeat.
A 657 in good shape is worth asking price of $400-$450.
In my opinion, a full underlug 657 anywhere from 4" to 6" is prolly the best all-around revolver in the woods. Period.
7 1/2 inchers of recent (Pre-lock) manufacture are pretty darned good, too.
Hogue grips of wood or rubber, and unfluted cylinders are classic touches.
Now, If I could only find and afford a 4" 657 with unfluted cylinder, wood hogues, and no lock, it might just go home with me. (Preferably one with pin-on-hammer.)
I may have to have my 7 1/2" model cut, and find some old wood hogues.
My 627 of 1989 with 5.5" barrel, and wood hogues is stopping me from doing that right now.

...well, the price doesn't seem too bad...I SOLD one like that--except with the FLUTED cylinder--a few months ago, to an aspiring "Bambi Killer", for $450...mine was in excellent condition, had the nice wooden grips...probably shouldn't have sold it, but the guy I sold it to has done lotsa' business with me over the last several years...BTW, where is the 657 in question located???....mikey357
