S & W 3913LS Value

Hello; I have a like new Smith 3913LS 9mm with 5 mags.I was considering selling to fund another handgun purchase. What would be a reasonable expectation for what a dealer may offer price wise.I don't want to get totally ripped off,so I would like a knowledgable price check please.I would also like recommendations for 40. cal auto pistol with a tough epoxy/military type finish if it can't be had in stainless.I like Glocks, but would prefer a real safety. Is there a good semi- compact combat pistol out there at a reasonable price.HK,Sigs,S & W, are going to be out of my price range.I would prefer new gun over used, but I've not left out a used gun as a possibility.any info would be appreciated.

Ask the folks over there, they may have a better idea of it's worth. I agree with Nemesis, though. Sell it privately, you'll probably get more than if you'd trade it.

I'd suggest the CZ-75 Compact, but I don't believe it's available in .40 S&W. The CZ-75 B .40 may be too large to be considered "semi-compact".

AS I mentioned, the Sig is out of my price range. If I had the money I don't know that I would pay 700.00 dollars for a pistol. This gun I have was given to me,I wouldn't give S & W the money they ask for their guns either.A private sale isn't an option right now.I want to go tomorrow sell my gun and buy another.I don't want to get involved with a private party.I just need to know what would be considered a reasonable price a dealer would offer.Should I expect 200.00,300.00,400.00?Whats reasonable and what is a lowball offer. When I go to the gun shop I don't want to be ill prepared if I don't have an Idea as to a value.

That gun books at $510 NIB, and $425 in excellent condition. Realistically, and depending on the area, you could probably ask $450-500 for it.

Those are great litle pistols...I've been looking for a 3913LS for a while now.

Don't rule out the sigs because of the prices in your area. You can get a P225 for $500 - $550 delivered if you look carefully.

Around here if you offered it to a dealer, the most you'd see is $250. I thinik they would offer in the $200 range if you just wanted cash for the gun. You'll get a load about how hard it is to move Smiths right now. In my opinion, anything under $350 is not worth taking. The 3913s, in my experience, are excellent pistols (a little short on the number of rounds). I have a 5 year old 3913TSW (before they put that godawful rail on them) that I wouldn't sell for anything. You might try looking at the Taurus PT series (aluminum framed models, not the polymer junk). They have the huge PT92 and 100, but the PT-940 looks interesting if you want a .40 and it can be had in stainless.

Used prices around here are around $400. If you trade it in, or sell it to a gunstore, expect to be raped.

Use the internet.....it will give you a country-wide market. Guns are REAL expensive in some states, and someone might be happy to pay alot for your gun. Highest prices can often be obtained by listing on gunbroker.com, etc, where folks will try to outbid each other to get your gun, as long as your starting price is low enough.

PS- I had a 3913; great little gun that I wouldn't sell. It was stolen :(

Sorry to hear about your gun being stolen.Well,I really didn't want to spend over 400.00 on a pistol, but I bought a Sig 226 .40 cal anyway. The only decent gun I liked in my price range was in the CZ family of pistols.I prefered the SIG of course,so what can I say.The 510.00 NIB for the 3913 is accurate, because one dealer had it listed for 509.00 when I went shopping. Thanks all for the help.

Yeah, well $510 might be an accurate estimate of the dealer price, but dealers will beat you down on a trade or sale to them. They have to in order to turn a profit. Alot of people won't buy a used gun even if it is pristine. But, you might actually get $510 from a private citizen. But don't expect a dealer to give you anything close. Good choice on the Sig. I've been meaning to get one (I have 3 others) and am happy wilh all. Enjoy.
