Just picked up my new toy, a S&W 3913 9mm DA pistol. I was looking at the slide and noticed a difference with the S&W rollmark between same models. The ones I always see when I cruise the gun auctions has "SMITH & WESSON" then "Springfield, MA U.S.A." below it like the pic below:

Mine has "SMITH & WESSON" closer to the front of the slide, then

MADE IN U.S.A.
marcas registradas
smith & wesson
springfield, mass.

I know these are 3rd gen S&W pistols but was just wondering why the different rollmarks.

I just looked over my S&W autos. The newer ones just have the SW and Springfield etc. They must have went back to the original markings because my nickel Model 59 has the "Marcas". This was bought in 1980. All the older guns I have seen have the "Marcas" stamp. The early 645s had the Marcas also.
