S&W 386PD/686 & 396/696 & 66F Comp. Snubby Comparison?

I am about ready to buy one or possibly two of these. What I am interested in is pro's and con's to them againt the other one. Example: How does the 386PD compare to the 686 or 686+? Same for the 396/696 and any of them to the 66F Comp.

I realize weight is a biggy, but what else? Strenght? Feel? Sight's? Trigger Feel? Felt Recoil? Bla Bla Bla...?

My use will be std. all around Snubby use. :D In other words, I'll carry em, plink with em, take em with me hunting, nightstand company, range work and the like.

I'm almost there but, would like some knowlege of you that have used them.

Thanks,
Marshall

Marshall-1...well, I bought a 386pd a few months ago. For me it was a bit light for shooting full house 357 ammo, and I didn't want a 38spl. gun to carry in that frame size, so I traded it to a friend for a like new mdl. 66 2.5 in. barrel. it is much nicer to shoot, it is alot heavier but I really like it, been carrying it in a galco. Oh yeah, he threw in some cash to make up the difference in price. I have never shot a short barrel 686 but I sure like my 6in. example. And then I bought the ti gun I should have bought in the first place, the 342......tom
ps...for some reason this 386 had the worst trigger I have ever seen on a S&W, the 66 has a much nicer trigger.

I own the S&W696, I carry this revolver at times but it is just on the verge of being too bulky. I love the revolver itself and would not part with it. If I had to pick only 1 handgun in my collection to keep it would be my 696.

HMMMM_ i have owned the 396, 386 and the 66. The 396 got stolen:( , used the money to buy 386, then bought a 3"66. The 66 3" is too heavy, the 396 beat the cr** out of your hand, and the 2" 386 is, to me, akward to cc with the shorter bbl ( wide 7 shot cylinder with the short bbl feels like carring a softball in your pants:eek: ) disclaimer---it's for sale!! Don't know if this helps or hurts, good luck.....Jordan

Thanks for the replies.

Hmmm, might have to consider the Ruger SP101 stronger? I love Ruger revolvers but most here seemed to like the S&W smaller revolvers.

marshall...the sp101 is a very nice revolver, I 've owned two, my brother in law still has my 2 1/8 in that I sold him, he loves it. I prefer smiths myself, in addition to the 66 and 342 I have a bodyguard airweight and a 640. You can't go wrong with any of these....tom
