S&W;357 Serial#

CZ 75

Inactive
Hi all
Please help me determine the year of manufacture and model for this .357 S&W. The serial# is: 3076241.
Thank you in advance

That looks more like an assembly number than the serial number. Look on the bottom of the grip for the serial number. Depending on the frame size it should have an "S", "N", "K", or "D" in the serial number. If it's a fairly new gun then it will have a 3 alphabet prefix serial number.

Excuse my ignorance regarding revolvers

Ok
I can see a "K" and the number 4539 on the other side it's 13154.
Sorry about the rookie question, but I'm no gunsmith.
Thanks :o

Bottom of the grip.

The serial is probably on the bottom of the grip frame. Aftermarket grips can cover this number. If it was made after 1957, it should have a model number on the frame under the crane, under the rear of the barrel, like 19, or 19-1,2,3, etc. depending on revision. Otherwise if the number is K4539 in actuality, it should have been made in 1947, but my Jinks book says the first K frame 357 was made with ser. K260,003 in 1955. Therefore another look is in order? Might have a number before the letter in later guns. My book goes to 1976 on K frame guns.

Those numbers still don't sound right. Turn your revolver bottom side up and see what is on the very bottom of the gripframe. You may have to remover the grips to see the metal frame, but it shold be stamped there.

A few facts about the revolver. Is it blued or nickeled? How long is the barrel? Does it have fixed or adjustable sights? Looking at the front of the reovlver, does it have a screw thru the triggerguard where it meets the fron of the frame or is it just smooth metal there? When you swing the cylinder open can you see a "MOD and a 2 digit number that may be followed with a dash (-) mark then a single digit number?
