S&W 340PD, Galco Ankle Glove, Fit Problem

Just got a galco ankle glove (with the retension strap) for my S&W 340PD snubbie. The problem is that I have the crimson trace laser grips for it and they cover the backstrap a little more than the stock factory grips. This makes the retension strap just a few millimeters short of buttoning.

What should I do? Leave it unfastened all the time? If this is the case, maybe I should just cut it off. I feel bad doing that to a nice holster. Any way to "stretch" the leather?

Hey I bought a galco ankle glove for my 340pd too. I tried it on before I got the Crimson trace grips thoug, so I am going to check what you are talking about when I get home tonight. DO you have the lg-205's or 305's?

I got an ankle holster cause I wanted something comfortable when I sit in the seat of my car. But Ill tell you, I CANNOT get my gun out with jeans on. Its a nightmare. I think the only time I am going to use the ankle holster when I get my permit in a few weeks is if I am wearing sweatpants or stretchy jogging pants.

I have the "overmolded" rubber grips, the 305's, on my 340PD. It makes shooting .357mags a bit more comfortable but they still...sting.

goosevr1,

Wet the strap with rubbing alcohol...the higher the alcohol content the better... wrap the gun in a double layer of Saran Wrap, put the wrapped gun in the holster, stretch the strap until it can be snapped into place, and let it dry. The higher alcohol content rubbing alcohol dries faster than the lower grade.

I use a Renegade holster with my 340SC with over-molded CT's. The elastic retention strap fits over the rear of the trigger guard. The gun is removed by "pulling through" the elastic.

The problem with the Smith Sc/Ti J frames is that they are a little larger than a standard J frame,

I've used this method with a number of holsters.
