I found an airlite ti 337 at a gun show this weekend. Its marked 337, no internal lock:) I've been trying to gt an idea of when it was made. Overall I cant find much info about this particular model. Anyone have any experience with this model?

You found it or did you buy it?

Just a guess. It's one of those Keller spl addition's.

Airlite? I think Airlite's have titanium cylinders.

I could be wrong though.:D Anybody?

OK, I can't spell (A=a) airlite ti:mad:

Let me rephrase this, it's an Air Lite Titanium model 337.

+P .38spl?

.357?

If you bought it......?

I'm just curious my self.

thanks for the info. I will post pictures later today. were these guns produced in low numbers? I cant figure out if its rare or just an oddball. I purchased a 638-3 a month ago & spent the same amount of money on this 337. What are these going for used? I don't see many of them for sell to get a good range of pricing.

I believe the 337 is the lightest revolver S&W made. I owned a 342, same as yours but with an enclosed hammer. Make sure to heed all the cleaning and ammo warnings. Also, if you've never shot one before your in for a treat. My 342 was down right brutal with +P rounds and just painful with SP. I miss my 342 and hope to replace it some day. Congrats on the find, it's a great one.

Ps,

Pics?

My 337PD came with a warning not to shoot +P lead bullets, as they may jump crimp, locking up the cylinder. New, cost was $574.99 on 3-8-2002. No lock. Has a barrel shroud, barrel tube. And shows a "special" barrel tool to remove it, in the instructions. No tool came with revolver. The +P ammo is not fun to shoot. Feels like more recoil than a M29.

Thanks for that info. I'm anxious to get to the range , sounds like its a handful with +p. I like having the option of being able to change the front sight . The 638-3 has surprised me in SA with +p before .

I traded for one a couple of years ago. Mine is a 337 AirLite ti. I had a smith bob the hammer and install a HiViz front sight. I have an old Pachmayr Compact rubber grip that makes range shooting much less painful. I think the grip is heavier than the revolver.;) I usually shoot some standard pressure target ammo and some carry JHP with the big grips and then switch to the original Uncle Mike's Boot Grip and shoot a cylinder or two of carry ammo. I use Hornady Critical Defense in it for carry these days. The 110 gr bullet hits close enough to point of aim with the HiViz sight at reasonable self-defense range...up to 10 yards or so. Recoil from the 110gr bullet isn't too bad. I carry it more than any of the many revolvers I own because of the light weight, compact size and its reasonably effective with good ammo.
