S&W 327

Anyone shot, or seen a S&W 327? 8 shot, 2" .357mag, am curious if anyone has anything to say about it (besides the usual I hate the lock, etc)

No, no, no, abelew!

It's not that I hate the lock, it's that I hate the look!

These S&W "belly guns" are just butt ugly to me.
The should have at least made it a 3" barrel.

Images attached (in order): M27 3.5" original and the new S&W 327 2"

A gun store nearby me has one on display for like $800.00. I know expspensive but I collect. beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I really like the look of the large 8 shot cylinder against the short 2 inch barrel. It almost reminds me of a higher capacity pepper box. Anyways Im buying it as soon as Im save up for it mostly as a display item only to be shot a few times.

Im also planning on a "alaskan super redhawk" in .454. another fine peice that seems to have a love or hate response from forum members. This is also a unique peice Im looking forward to add in my small collection.

Thanks for the replies, and you have a nice 27 there, btw. I just kinda liked the 8 shot capacity, kind of a unique feature, if you think about it. I wish I could find a stainless one with a 2.5 or 3 in barrel. I think that would look great with nice wood grips that accented the stainless of the gun (beadblasted). I know they made some of those with 5 in barrels, looked kinda nifty I thought, but I don't want all that barrel.

I want one of those too.
I'm a handgun masochist.

I like mine

I picked it up used on GB for ~700 :D

The seller said it was shot exactly 16 times, and it seemed feasible. At just over 20 ounces, I thought this gun would be a handful but honestly, it wasn't that bad. It's accurate enough for a 2" barrel, comes with a decent, smooth trigger pull and it is fun to shoot. This is a defensive gun, so if you plan on some bullseye, find another gun. Gun Tests panned it for not having a full length ejector rod, which I have never had a problem with. The gun points really easily, and since it's light, fatigue is not so much of an issue. The recoil signature isn't anywhere as bad as the 325 PD, with more of a push as opposed to the sharp bite of the 325. You can optionally use moon clips...

I used mine to win a local best muzzle flash contest ;)

It's expensive for what it is. I think the line of S&W's are a bit overpriced, but every Smith I have has a better trigger DA/SA than any of my Taurii revolvers. My PC Smiths, the 627 in particular are different league better.

Leather is a little difficult to come by, far less common than J frame leather.

I don't think you'd be 'outgunned' with a 327, it's very good gun in my opinion.

HTH
