S&W 27-2

Exactly two years ago, I found this very nice S&W 27-3 at an LGS I didn’t know then. I bought it for $ 600 in a three gun deal. Needless to say I went back to this LGS. A lot.

It had not original grips, but the seller let me roam through his grips stash

And I found these. Not original to the gun but nice

And I had a spare set of N targets which I put on

Anyway, a shooting buddy really liked it and made me promise that if I ever sell it he has dibs.

Well I saw a P&R 27-2, abt 10 years older, from a private seller at $ 900. So my buddy got the -3, he was happy and so was I

Wow!

Beautiful old school S&W wheelgun right there.

And it’s most especially eye-catching because of the abscence of the dreaded Hillary Hole and the consequent molesting of the traditional geometry of the cylinder latch.

I found a 27-2 a few years back at a small LGS still virtually new in the presentation case. After some shrewd negotiation I brought it home for $750. I haven't seen another for sale locally since then at any price.

I would have kept the Herrett Troopers. The look better to me than the machine stamped checkering on the factory targets.

My 27-2 with presentation case. Unfortunately the felt had a bad day long ago. The Model 27 is just one of those sweet revolvers.

Sweet deal and simply enjoy the gun.

I’ll throw my 27-2 in to the mix. I found it in a pawn shop a few years ago.

Beautiful guns, guys! I got this 27-3, in nickel, from my dad around 25 years ago. I'm not sure if it's ever been fired. Sometimes I wish it was blued, though.

Howdy

No top strap photos? The most distinctive feature of the Model 27 and its predecessor the Registered Magnums, was the checkering on the top strap and barrel rib.

Model 27 no dash in the foreground, Model 19-3 in the background.
