S&w 25-2 45 acp-------

Lucky you! I had a partner that carried an identical one with full moon clips on uniform duty in the 80s.

I have the Model 25's predecessor, the S&W Model 1917. It was an army pistol (has all the US Property and proof markings) and it is great fun to shoot. In fact, I had it at the range just last week to show my son how much fun it is to shoot.

Here it is just got it today, not a mark on it!!!

You are going to enjoy your SMith 25-2. I have a Smith 25 in .45 Colt and a Smith 625 Auto Rim. I had so much faith in my 625 that I took it as my only gun on wild boar hunt. I shot a boar at point blank range with a Hornday 200grain XTP loaded to 1020 feet per second in .45 auto cases. The bullet hit the pig in front of the shoulder and penetrated about twelve inches of neck taking out three inches of the neck bone. The bullet lodged just behing the jaw born on the off side.

As I mentioned in your other thread about the .38/44 HD, I have a 25-2 that's not nearly in as nice condition as yours. It's probably the most accurate revolver of few dozen that I own, a group that includes such notably accurate guns as a Python, Model 17, and a couple Model 14s - or at least it's the one that I shoot best. It may well be the last revolver that I'd part with if I were forced to start thinning the herd.

I use mine only for range work, so I don't need quick reloads, and I've always found moon clips to be a messy PITA, so I load .45 AR brass for it and save the .45 ACP for my semi-autos.

Great gun, excellent price. I bought two this year. Both in great shape. Paid a tad more than your find. I'm shooting them both. Very accurate. I'm using moon clips and auto rim. Will be getting some more auto rim cases.
