There is a little trick. You use an empty 22 case to hold the slide open a half inch while you remove the locking bolt from the top of the slide with your fingers. Pull up on it, it is a U shaped piece of steel. It is located about a half inch back from the front of the slide.
This is really very easy.
Next remove the recoil spring and it's guide rod.
Now the slide will come off by pulling it back off the frame.
Remember to put the empty 22 case back in place to get the U shaped locking piece back in place for reassembly.
