S&W 22 idea

I'd like to have a bull barrel fitted to my 34-1 with its own front sight blade and provisions for optics - nothing special, just a barrel with a good reputation for accuracy. I'm not enterring the Olympics. I can't find many smiths who advertise this service though I believe it to be a very straightforward task. Similar to the mods that commonly get done to 10's and 15's and the like, I'd like to have a heavier, six inch barreled target revolver for local competitions and plinking. Am I already up to the price of a good High Standard or six inch stock S&W kit gun (thouth the Smith still wouldn't get me the capability to mount optics). It's just a whim but I would be serious if someone could recommend a smith - preferrably one with less than six month turnaround or who intends to make a mortgage payment with this one job. I'd just as soon pick up a Citation and go have fun.

Thanks all,
Ed

Any good pistolsmith can make the barrel you are asking for. Yes, you are probably going to be up to or beyond the cost of a High Standard or any other match pistol.

S&W is just now comming out with a new model 63. Has a 5" barrel, and I'll bet it's already drilled and tapped.

You could probably wait and buy one, for about the same price as modifying your model 34.
