What's the difference between the SW Model 620 and the 686 Plus other than the fact that the 620 is only available with a 4" barrel, the 686P with various sized barrels?

I can't tell a difference. Please enlighten me.
 
Others may be able to tell you more - one difference is the 620 has the new two-piece barrel construction, which is controversial here on TFL anyway. Another is the combination of the half-lug with 4" length barrel, unavailable on the 686 if you want that. I just bought a 686 in 4" - wanted the extra meat up front there in this barrel length to help soak up discharges. Overall, I don't think there will be too much difference between them.
